Personality:
Roderich is a quiet, creative man who enjoys the finer things in life. He is not spoiled and can go without, but he appreciates being around nice things even if they're not his own. That's why he took the job he has now working for the Mysterious Master of the House. Because he likes being around people with culture and money, even if he only has one of those things. Despite his love of the finer things in life, however, Roderich is very frugal. He dislikes spending money unless it's absolutely necessary and will avoid it at all cost. He will even patch up his old underwear to avoid buying a new pair. He does keep his clothing in good repair, however. Especially his work uniform, which the Master gave to him to wear while he is working in the house. It's a very elegant outfit and he quite enjoys wearing it. It makes him feel important.
Roderich loves the Arts, especially music. When he's not tending to the needs of the Master's guests he can be found int he ballroom, playing the piano. He's very adept and has been playing since he was a small child. When he plays the piano his whole demeanor changes no matter what mood he's in to a calm, serene type of character. There is no where he'd rather be than sitting at the piano playing the works of the master composers or composing his own. He's quite modest about his composing but he's actually quite good at it. Another thing he loves to do is bake. Whether it be bread, cookies, or cakes, he just enjoys it. Something about creating something that people can use satisfies him. And it reminds him of baking cakes with his mother when he was a boy. He loves cakes and all things sweet, especially chocolate.
History:
Roderich's mother and father were a young Austrian couple who had eloped despite his wealthy father's parents' complaints. But they were deeply in love, so the poverty they encountered didn't bother them. However, when they found that they were expecting a child, they begged his parents to at least recognize the child. The grandparents, albeit reluctantly, agreed that the child could come and live with them when he was old enough to begin schooling. So once the child was born, his parents decided to give him as much love as possible before they had to send him off to live with his grandparents. His mother, especially, taught him all she knew. They would bake cakes and mend clothes together, and she would take him to the shop with her when she bought groceries and let him hold the basket and explain to him the importance of saving money.
But when he was 10 and deemed old enough to begin schooling, he was sent off to his grandparents to learn how to be a proper gentleman. It was then that he was first introduced to the piano. He took to it right away, sometimes shirking his other studies to practice. But his grandparents didn't mind, because they could see that he had the makings of a master. What he didn't know was that his grandparents were just as poor as his mother and father and hoping that he would make money as a pianist or composer to get them out of debt. When he learned that they had just been using him, he severed all ties and fled to the United States.
At first he was homeless and destitute, searching for work wherever he could find it and playing piano in a few bars that were looking for players. But the work was never steady and the pay was never enough. But one day he reached the light at the end of the tunnel while playing in a seedy bar in Chicago. A man came up to him and said that his employer was looking for a new Butler, as he was about to retire. Roderich took the job without question and traveled with the man to a place called Circletown, where he was brought to Heta Manor and instructed on how to be a proper Butler. After his training the previous butler left.
He finds it odd that all his orders are given by letter and that he's never actually seen his mysterious Master, but he has learned not to question these things.

RP Sample:
Roderich smiled softly as his fingers tickled across the ivory keys of the piano. This was his favorite time of day, just before dawn then the night sky was becoming paler and the air was crisp and fresh. It was the best time of day to play, as well. The music drifted through the room, flowing from his fingertips and lightening his soul. It was a beautiful feeling, was it not? The feeling of making and creating music. It was even better if the piece is, as it was now, your own. It was like bringing the child of your flesh, blood, sweat, and tears that you had nursed in your womb to life. It was truly a beautiful feeling.
But not all things are meant to last and he knew that soon the guests would be awakening and that he would have to attend to his duties. He did not mind the work, it was easy and fulfilling. But if he could have just a few more minutes a day to practice, that was all he really asked. But all too soon the sun has risen completely and the spell was broken as one of the guests wandered in and asked when breakfast was to be served. He stood from the piano bench and gave a slight bow, answering their question and heading out the door to the kitchen to make sure the other servants were doing their jobs correctly and efficiently. It was his job to keep the household running in ship shape, after all.
